A great Sunday afternoon was had by all those attending the Comic Song contest which was held at the Hill Inn. There were 13 entries for the competition and lots of people turned up to enjoy the entertainment. Due to the growing popularity of the event it was ( sadly ) necessary to introduce a few rules this year regarding registration. It all went exceedingly well and we were grateful that everyone was more than happy to fall in line with the registration process. The standard again was very high. 7 out of the 13 entries were self penned. The afternoon commenced with Mooncoyn singing a couple of songs as the hosts helping everyone to warm up their vocal cords. The instigator of the competition Martin Smith attended and gave a rendition of the Song which inspired the competition, much to the delight of the sponsor Stuart Carmichael of Masons Products. We were also pleased that last years winner Andy Hill could be in attendance and he kicked off the competition with the winning song from last year, "Skipton Car Park" The subject matter of the songs varied across many subjects : Ladies underwear, Viagra, Hitting grandma, Danny Boy, Colds, Pooing in the dark, Dugdales day trip to the sea where he met Hitler, what women are for! Covered in Mud, Raffles. The afternoon ended with a music session which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The results were : A BIG Thank you to all who participated , judged, laughed and also to the Hill Inn for hosting the competition. The prize money was increased this year and our gratitude goes to Masons Products for their kind sponsorship. Members of the audience were given some of the Masons Dog Oil Products, so we are expecting someone to write a song for next years competition on the many uses of Masons Dog Oil !
